The TSA Mid-South Regional Office serves families in an eight-state region in the mid-south: Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
The Regional Office is committed to helping individuals, families and communities affected by TS in the mid-south.
Our Vision
As the Mid-South Region, our vision is to support the needs of individuals with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and their families through awareness, public policy initiatives and the education of the public, educators and health professionals to foster greater understanding and acceptance of persons with TS in our region.
Our Goals
Through our Mid-South Office, we achieve our Mission & Vision goals by:
- Maintaining a regional network that advocates at local, state, and national levels on behalf of those living with Tourette Syndrome;
- Providing in-service programs for physicians, educators, and allied professionals to improve learning environments for children with Tourette Syndrome;
- Assisting individuals and communities to increase awareness and understanding of Tourette Syndrome;
- Serving as an information and referral resource to individuals, families, educators, physicians and allied professionals; and
- Engaging individuals, families and communities of the Mid-South Region in TS awareness, education, fundraising and support.
What We Offer
Awareness and Education
Our Mid-South Office and volunteers can:
- Provide information about TS
- Organizein-services and educational conferences for schools, healthcare facilities and other community groups
- Provide literature, publications and videos on TS-related topics for purchase or for short term loan from our lending library.
Information and Referrals
The Mid-South Office provides accurate information about the disorder and offers a referral list of treating physicians and allied professionals in the region.
Fund Raising
State and regional fund-raising activities provide both funds and entertainment to support the Office’s work. Whether it’s through workplace giving, a local fundraising event, or participating in Team TSA, there are many ways to support the Mid-South Region.
Support Groups
Support groups offer individuals and families an opportunity to meet with others and discuss living with TS. Access our link on the TSA website for a support group in your area.
National TSA
Each year, TSA promotes medical and scientific research, supports positive legislative change, and produces a wide variety of informational materials, and educational tools and resources. As part of this national organization, TSA Mid-South ensures that families affected by TS in the region have the greatest possible access to TSA’s resources, and the opportunity to become active and involved members.
Newsletter
The Mid-South Office newsletter, Echo, is published several times each year, offering information about Tourette Syndrome, the latest in research and national awareness efforts, and regional news, articles of interest, and events.
