The Tourette Association of America Florida Chapter is a volunteer led, nonprofit organization supporting the needs of individuals and families affected by Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders. We are committed to raising public awareness and fostering social acceptance; advancing scientific understanding, treatment options and care; educating professionals to better serve the needs of children, adults and families challenged by Tourette and Tic Disorders; advocating for public policies and services that promote positive school, work and social environments; Providing help, hope and a supportive community across the nation; and empowering our community to deal with the complexities of this spectrum of disorders.

Events

TAA Florida hosts several social and educational events throught the calendar year. We also have various fundraisers and operate information booths at various regional events. Our annual events include Family Weekend, the Pathfinder experiential teen event, the Brevard Picnic, and annual Golf Tournament and Auction. Coming in November is Pathfinder, our annual fall teen team building event. Teens with Tourette and one of their parents are invited to join us at Cedarkirk Retreat and Conference Center in Lithia, FL (just east of Tampa). Support Groups

The following support groups or contacts are currently available. All other counties, contact TAA Florida Chapter’s Administrative Coordinator at 727.418.0240 or [email protected] (link sends e-mail) Many Support groups will not be meeting during the summer months. Meetings will resume for most of the groups in the fall. Please call to confirm meeting dates and times. Disclaimer Support group leaders and individual volunteers who have agreed to accept telephone calls concerning Tourette Syndrome are knowledgeable about Tourette Syndrome. However, their comments reflect their personal background with Tourette Syndrome and do not necessarily reflect the views of the chapter.

Education In-service
TAA Florida is conducting in-service presentations around the state with various schools on an as needed basis. Very soon we will be adding webinar programs that will run as webinar events that medical and education professionals as well as parents can register toattend. It can make a tremendous difference in your child’s academic experience to have the school staff educated about the many facets of TS. Learn More

Youth Ambassadors
Trained TAA Youth Ambassadors (YAs) are available to provide peer presentations to classmates to educate them about TS. This proactive presentation helps to dispel myths and misconceptions among a child’s peers leading to greater understanding and compassion. Peer presentations are part of TAA Florida’s commitment to the national anti-bullying campaign. Learn More
