Become a Grassroots Activist for TS

TSA has an ongoing effort to raise awareness about TS and issues affecting the TS community. Through meetings and discussions with local elected officials, Members of Congress, and community leaders we can hope to influence their thinking on matters coming up in legislation.

We need your help. You can become a GRASSROOTS ACTIVIST for TS , by raising local, state, and federal elected officials' awareness of issues impacting families living with Tourette Syndrome - sometimes without leaving your hometown, as you meet with officials in their local offices.

Your representatives want to hear from constituents about everyday issues and problems they face. Talking to your legislators about your experiences as families and individuals with Tourette Syndrome can have an impact on future legislation.  Health Insurance, Education, Discrimination, are among the issues that elected officials should hear about on a continuing basis.

Getting Tourette Syndrome listed as a disability under the category of Other Health Impaired (OHI) under IDEA resulted from TSA's vigorous advocating for over two decades - a genuine success story for grassroots activism and government outreach. We can have more successes with your help.

TSA's Director of Public Policy, Elridge Proctor can give you some pointers and let you know which legislative priorities your representatives are dealing with, to which committee or sub-committees he is assigned, and what legislative issues may come before him.

Contact Elridge Proctor at 202-408-7009 or elridge.proctor@tsa-usa.org before you meet with your legislators, and she can give you some supporting information to help you in your meeting .

Working together, we can benefit all in the TS community.
