TSA Education Programs for
Medical/Allied Professionals
and
Education/School Based Teachers/Clinicians

The Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) has begun a 4th year of partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC),  to provide a series of programs on  Tourette Syndrome.  Faculty from TSA and its Medical Advisory Board will present. One series of programs is directed to Medical and Allied Professionals; the second is directed to Education/School Based Teachers and Clinicians. 

The Year 4 Program hopes to reach even more professionals by using technologically advanced resources and network such as live web-based programs, teleconferencing and dissemination of learning materials as well as face-to-face grand rounds, seminars and workshops.

Program 1 of 2: Medical and Allied Professionals -  Diagnosing and Treating Tourette Syndrome

Participants will receive

  • Authoritative information on Tourette Syndrome, common co-occurring conditions, differential diagnosis, treatments including medications, and case management

  • A comprehensive CD-DVD featuring practice parameters, important published papers, and four useful videos

  • Opportunity for CME credit

  • Access to online medical education resources on TSA’s website http://tsa-usa.org, featuring online CME, CNE presentations, including “Diagnosing & Treating Tourette Syndrome” with John Walkup, MD

  • Opportunity to be included on TSA’s physician and allied Professional Referral lists.
    The Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) maintains state Professional Referral Listings (PRL) to provide to inquirers in their home areas. The professionals listed have indicated that they have had prior experience, expertise and an interest in diagnosing and/or treating people with Tourette Syndrome.

Program 2 of 2:  Education/School-Based Clinical Training
directed to speciaL education directors, IEP team chairpersons, regular and special education teachers, school psychologists and social workers, school nurses, paraprofessionals, speech therapists, occupational therapists and university education training programs.
A LIMITED NUMBER OF BOOKINGS ARE AVAILABLE. SOME REQUESTS WILL RECEIVE PARTIAL SUPPORTS AT PROGRAM DISCRETION.

Participants will receive

  • Authoritative information on Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders including ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Executive Dysfunction Disorder, Dysgraphia, and behavioral issues as they relate to all of these disorders

  • Attendees will receive comprehensive CDs and DVDs with the most recent TSAeducational articles, brochures and four useful videos. Included is the EMMY AWARD WINNING TSA-HBO video “I Have Tourette’s, But Tourette’s Doesn’t Have Me”. Other materials include the “Catalog of Accommodations for Students with TS and Associated Disorders”, “Conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment and Writing a Positive Behavioral Intervention Plan for a Student with TS” and “Writing an IEP for a Student with TS and Associated Disorders”.

  • Access to continuing education information on TSA website http://tsa-usa.org
